The books are based on Beve Hornsby’s “Alpha to Omega”, which teaches English from a phonetic viewpoint.  Roughly 80% of our language can be taught through phonics – sounding out the letters and blending those sounds together to read and spell words.

I worked as a Senco (Special Needs Co-ordinator) in an inner-city primary school for five years and using this system as laid out in my books, 98% of the children gained Level 4 or above in their SATS at Yr 6.  This is way above the national average of roughly 64%.

The books offer a structured programme, where only a small amount of new knowledge is introduced at a time.  This guarantees success.

Each new lesson builds on the previous lesson, but takes another step forward.

We learn through using all our senses.  The books are based on teaching in a multi-sensory way.  This maximises the learning by the total focus of our senses.

The books explain how to do this.

In addition, a tick system is introduced.  In Lesson 1, the children can earn up to 20 ticks, having written only four simple sentences, with four – six words in each.  Success breeds success.  Twenty-six ticks for writing sentences which only contain the letter sounds (phonemes) of “i, n, p, t, s” and the word “the”.

It’s Hard to Fail!
